Buffalo July 2002

Fourth of July Pictures

I've always loved fireworks. On the Fourth of July, Albert and I walked to the end of the pier along the Lake Eire shore across from downtown Buffalo. I took the camera figuring that since I didn't have any film to waste that I might as well see what it was capable of doing. From the end of the pier you can actually see a large number of firework shows up and down the lake shore. Unfortunately I didn't think to try to get pictures of the Orchard Park ones which showed up nicely behind the Buffalo skyline until it was too late. I did get an out-of-focus, but nice shot of the Buffalo downtown skyline before the main Buffalo fireworks display started. (I didn't realize that I didn't need such a long exposure at that point.) After adjusting the exposure time, I got some fine shots of the Buffalo fireworks. We're sitting on the pier right across the Black Rock Canal from where they were shooting them off in LaSalle Park in Downtown Buffalo.

Single firework Green and Red This one is out of focus, but Amy really likes it and wanted it posted. A red one that makes the water shine. This one is a nice shot.
A bright white one that really lit up the sky. You can see trees on the shore in this one! Red and white flares. You can see smoke at the base. Beginning of the finale(?) This one is a great shot of fireworks.
Finale fireworks overhead. This one is probably the best of all the firework pictures. More of the finale. This is my favorite of the fireworks pictures even though it's not as colorful as the other finale shots.
